Cooking Techniques
Making hollandaise sauce using a double boiler (the glass bowl over water method) helps prevent the eggs from scrambling. Keep whisking – it’s like a mini arm workout! The air fryer makes this recipe so much easier than traditional poaching. If you’re new to checking meat temperatures, 160°F is just right for your hollandaise – it’ll be smooth and creamy at this point.
Quick Substitutions
No Canadian bacon? Regular ham works great too! If English muffins aren’t your thing, try a toasted bagel or slice of sourdough bread. For a lighter version, use egg whites instead of whole eggs. Want to make it vegetarian? Replace the Canadian bacon with grilled tomato slices or sautéed mushrooms.
Serving Suggestions
Add some fresh color to your plate with a handful of baby arugula or watercress. A side of roasted potatoes or fresh fruit makes this a perfect weekend brunch. Love spice? Try adding a dash of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to your hollandaise. For extra fancy points, sprinkle some paprika along with the parsley.
Storage Tips
While Eggs Benedict is best eaten right away, you can save time by making the hollandaise sauce a day ahead – just store it in an airtight container in the fridge. When you’re ready to use it, warm it up slowly using the same double boiler method. The English muffins can be toasted and the Canadian bacon cooked ahead too – just warm them up quickly in the air fryer before serving.
